Hi there! I’m Isabella Brown, a Registered Dietitian from Central California. I’ve spent the last year in Texas completing my dietetic internship and now I’m making my way to Missouri with my new husband. The road to becoming a dietitian began ten years ago, as a little thirteen year old, when I decided this was what I wanted to wake up and do every day. I’m still having a hard time believing that dream came true. Cooking and nutrition have been passions of mine for a long time and I have finally mustered up the courage (and dedication) to share my love of food and health on a larger scale, through this blog.
To help us get better acquainted, I’ve created a list of “things you should know about me”:
What You Should Know About Me:
- My goal is to provide inclusive nutrition advice. Healthy eating looks different for everyone and I want to give you the tools to make healthy choices for your current life circumstances. I pledge to try my best to only include inexpensive recipes and products.
- I’m a Cal Poly SLO alumni (class ’18) and completed my dietetic internship through Texas A&M University this past year. Both are wonderful schools and I’d love to talk about my experience with anyone who’s interested in studying nutrition.
- Contrary to common belief, I’m not the food police. In fact, I’m fighting to end diet culture. Please don’t ask me for a weight loss diet because I only give evidence based recommendations and guess what? Solid research says diets don’t work and often contribute to worse health outcomes.
- I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is a huge part of my identity and impacts my life choices, including how I eat.
